When it snows I like to get out and on snowshoe or cross country ski. I have been out everyday since we got snow after Christmas. Today I took my adventure and skiied Stokes SF, about 20 min drive from my house.

The starting temp was 9 degrees F. Start at the lot on Dimon Rd

I took the Stoll trail up towards the ridge. This proved to be a challenge as there was a hudge stretch where the trees were knocked down from Hurricane Sandy. A lot of bushwacking.

If I can get a few more weeks like this I will be set for the winter. Then it can get warm...

yesterdays adventure took me to High Point State Parks Lusscruft Farm section. This is less then a mile from my house. Its a little more teckniical for skis so I did some snowshoeing.

Great pictures. I thought about taking a ride up today, but house chores took over. Maybe I'll get out later this week before it all melts, or I'll just catch the next (hopefully) storm.
Also I'm going to be taking over as the maintainer for the Swenson Trail through the NYNJ Trail Conference, starting in spring. I'm also taking a 1.5 mile section of the AT out by the gap.
