The 1960s was a good decade for snow and cold. Actually, in the 1970s there were articles about the coming ice age and how the world was getting colder. How quickly things can change.

That 52 inch snow depth must have been something to see.

I cant even imagine that much snow from one storm. Thats just impresive. The PA record is not bad considering its not far from me, an hour drive to my southwest. Too bad records were not kept at High Point or by Robbbs area. I bet that NJ record would have been somewhere else close by.

I think Robbbs has an unofficial monthly NJ snowfall record for winter 2010. Not sure what though.

The trough digs down into Cuba right into early March. Pretty crazy. Could have some interesting weather this week with all that blocking.

Yep -- February 2010 recorded 62.6" of snow. Dave Robinson (NJ State Climatologist) made reference to it in NJ's monthly climate narrative report. Actually, a number of stations that month, both in northern and southern NJ, beat the old monthly record of 50" at Freehold NJ. Despite submitting documentation and records, and despite at least half a dozen other stations beating the old record. nothing was officially updated and the old record still stands as official. Stefano has been trying to get his seasonal record of 122" at High Point officially recognized for over 15 years and no update.

Can this possibly be the 1st active and cold March in a long time? We will see.

Euro develops a massive block with a lot of cold air throughout the run. Insane. Hopefully, opportunities will most persist once the blocking eases up a bit.

NAO on the Euro goes down to -4.50

Today was billed as a real nice day - best of the week - with lots of sun and temps in the mid to possibly upper 40s.. Been overcast most of the day and in the low 40s.

Let's see what the 12Z Euro does with this for next week. On the 0Z very close to a major snowstorm for us. Probably the last chance for the coast.

Gives the area a few inches of snow. Bombs out a little too late.
