Keep in mind you haven't yet seen last Mondays quarter a gallon drop reflected in pump prices yet let alone todays dime.

Saw $2.89 here in Queens for regular. Never thought I'd see that again here. We were consistently around $4 for years.

Oil taking another beating again today. It could be below $60/barrel very soon.

Paid $2.57 for plus last night. Reg was 2.39 and super was 2.69. Cash or credit. RBOB down to $1.64 or 73 cents lower than early October. That's a decline of a little over 30% in 2 months. I stayed out of S&P and Dow funds because I worried that the oil stocks would weigh them down.

Good story here on why oil has plunged. Once you read this you can easily see how bad the metrics were that predicted $400 a barrel oil years ago. Those analysts just took demand thru the roof with OPEC controlling supply and an unstable Middle East disrupting supply. They never saw the US production happening the way it did and they totally blew the demand for city housing by young people seriously cutting into auto demand and hence fuel needs. Plus cars are getting greater and greater gas mileage.

There are some predictions of $40-$45 dollar oil now. This IMO is a disconnect from the reality of supply and demand just like $100 a barrel oil was. I've always thought oil belonged around $70-$75 a barrel but that was before the US was producing oil from shale the way it is now. Adjusting for the big supply production I'd say oil belongs around where it is now and I hope it stabilizes between $55-60. That would be good for the economy. Below that could cause a rash of bankruptcies in oil related companies that lead to bad overall economics. This is where the middle trade by speculators hurts the oil market. We are used to it in an up market causing artificially high prices but it can also give you artificially low prices too when sentiment goes too negative.

$2.29/gal for regular according to a friend who was driving through NJ today. I bet it's lower closer to Newark area.

Saw a post today that Oklahoma is now seeing prices at $1.89/gal

Could $1.99 becoming a reality in NJ!?

2.24 NJ and NC. I did pay 2.08 in VA today though. I'll have to check SC again but so far it seems to be anywhere from 10 to 20 cents less than NC.

Did you buy in NC or are you still considering moving to northern SC?

One thing that is starting to get attention is that despite the steep drop in energy/fuel prices, airfare has remained sky high (no pun intended). The airlines are quick to raise prices and add surcharges when oil spikes. However, airfare hasn't come down at all to reflect at least some of the drop in fuel prices. And in fact, despite an approx 40% drop in oil prices, airlines say passenger will only see about a 5% drop in airfare prices sometime in 2015 as a result of the cheaper fuel costs.

RBOB is at $1.51. That allows NJ prices to be as low as $1.90 for regular at the stations that push volume.

Wonder if the airlines locked gas prices in with futures contracts when prices were going crazy? Believe me not defending them. It is very frustrating dealing with airline prices and their tactics.

Wow that's great. I hate how airline prices are just so ridiculous, especially if you want to book a last minute trip.
