Talk about negligence on the part of the ski resort, this will be a major monetary settlement or lawsuit when it's done.

They are only suing for $75 thousand? If that were up here, the family would sue for $75 million.

Poor kid. That is absurd. Don't let the name of the state fool you, it gets frigid in the NC appalachians!

Evidently, it's only a formality. In order to initiate the lawsuit, it has to be at least in the amount of $75K. The actual suit or settlement amount will likely be way more. The kid suffered terror, freezing, possibility of death, broken bones, knocked unconscious, and had to crawl through the woods to seek help. In addition, the courts love cases of negligence and carelessness, which in this instance is evidently the case with the lift operators not insuring that everyone was off. They would get crushed in court and will likely settle for a very high amount, assuming that the ski resort has deep pockets and/or insurance to cover.
