I know it's early but the Yankees have been playing some kind of great baseball. Another great win today and they're 18-9 with the best record in the AL.

Yanks lead the AL in runs scored, and are third in ERA. That'll do it.

FD - And some believe the Yankees have arguably two of the best future players in all of baseball in Judge and Sanchez.

Quite possibly. That's why I laugh at the Bryce Harper talk. You don't need to go after the biggest FA when you can produce your own. I do worry about the SP though. Tanaka is fine. Pineda and Severino are still very unproven and inconsistent.

19-9 record.
Yanks pound Cubs with 14 hits, 6 walks, for 11 runs; even while Judge was 0-5.
Castro is batting 381.

Impressed so far with this team. Never believed the predictions of a sub .500 season, but did not expect them to play this well either. Lots of juice around this team....young, exciting, play with passion and fun. Not been seen on a Yanks team in a while.

And Girardi is the perfect manager for this type of young team. Look at what he did years ago with a similar Marlins team.

These "Baby Bombers" have a bright future if the past two months are any indication of what is to come. That Aaron Judge kid is some talent. It's funny because I'm a Mets fan and the way the Yankees are playing and record wise is where I thought the Mets would be at this point. Yankees are definitely exceeding expectations.

Not good news that Sabathia is going on the DL, he's been the most reliable starter this year.

Crud, he's 7-2 for them.

You can't rely on CC for the whole season. The important thing is that he pitches in Sept/Oct when they need him the most. But if this team is legit they need to get a backup for him and another good starter at the trade deadline.

Bad news - Yanks have lost six in a row.
Good news - The losses were by a total of only nine runs.
Bad news - They still count as losses.

They were due for a bad stretch, everyone has them during the season. Good news is they are still in first place and coming home. They have Angels, Texas and CWS the next 10 games, so they need to right the ship.

My concern is Tanaka....He's the problem right now and cannot be counted on.

Gleyber Torres is out for the year with Tommy John surgery. He's only 20, so not huge deal, but certainly looked like he was a late season call up.

Yanks 5 for last 19...losing a lot of close games, and not-so-close games.
