We are going into a cool, dry spell. The first shot of dry air is close.

Wind direction and DP places the CF from a line approaching High Point down to around Lancaster, PA.

Like I asked earlier this month, define "dry spell".....A few days without rain?

actually this next cold front makes it down into FL. Seems impressive for August. A dry spell does look promising with the one exception being any tropical moisture from whatever forms in the gulf. But even that should hold off until a week from now or so.

Not following Harvey yet, but my 7 day shows nothing but sun. Highs in the 70s and lows in the 50s.
I'll take it the week before heading back to my teaching duties.

We look to be in a mostly dry pattern for about a week.

This is a rare season that has not had part of my lawn go dormant.

Very humid summer, used the A/C a lot of days this season.

2016 - 2017 Frozen Precipitation Record

2016
December 11 - 0.1 inches, from WAA, to rain
December 17 - 2.1 inches from WAA, to sleet, and rain

2017
January 6 - 1.6 inches from weak coastal
January 7 - 6.1 inches from coastal wave (21 F during daytime snowfall)
January 14 - 0.8 inches from weak wave
January 31 - 0.3 inches from clipper
February 9 - 5.9 inches from coastal storm (rain, sleet, then heavy snowfall rates)
March 3 - 0.2 inches from squall within a clipper
March 10 - 3.7 inches from wave on front
March 14 - 7.1 inches snow-sleet-snow from coastal (less than predicted)
March 15 - 0.5 inches from squalls

Total for season - 28.4 inches

Low temperatures: December 16 - 16 F; January 8 - 12 F; January 9 - 8 F; January 10 - 12 F; March 5 - 14 F
High - January 12 - 67 F (records set in area); February 8 - 64 F (record of 62 in CPK); February 19 - 69 F (records set in area).

Clouded over here and even felt a couple of rain drops. Thought it was going to be sunny throughout.

Still cloudy here. What a joke, I picked the wrong profession.

And for the record, my temps were forecasted for mid to high 70s all weekend, but are now projected in the mid 80s. Happy about that, but do Mets really have a clue?

Upper 40's 2 nights in a row in Sussex County. Beautiful.
Last night I heard what I believed to be a pack of coyotes passing through one of the golf courses behind my house. Did not see them but heard what sounded like a bunch of dogs yelping and howling. As quickly as they came through, they left. Sounded like they were passing through, maybe 3-5 of them. So cool but so creepy at the same time.

Very late September like outside. Rain, breezy and in the low 60s. Meanwhile a system that is in the eastern Atlantic could be the next major storm to watch. Looks fairly well organized already.

.67 inch of rain here from yesterday. Looks like the system in the eastern Atlantic could become quite powerful as it heads across the Atlantic
