Yanks with yet another big comeback, from 4-0, with a walk-off three-run shot.
They have won 15 of the last 16.

Yanks lead the league in runs scored, and are second in ERA.

The bad news is that the Red Sox team stats are about the same

It's funny, the Sox didn't impress me at all last season despite that they won the division. I watched many of their games last year on the MLB network and I never saw a team win in more improbable ways and with more wacky things happening where the other teams handed them gift wins. Having said that, the Sox are off to a great start this year but I think the Yanks will take the division. Yanks are playing great ball and imagine them when Stanton starts hitting and Bird returns.

They play loose, not like some of the uptight teams of the past decade.
Yanks are the fourth youngest team in the majors (4 of 30).
The team is largely rebuilt. Only a handful played with Jeter, who retired after 2014; and some just barely. Gardner, Sabathia, Warren, Robertson, Tanaka, Romine?

This is not the "corporate" Yankees of the 90's and 00's, they seem to have fun. A couple of things, as I watch 95% of their games

1) I love Jeter and the player he was, he was better in pressure situations than any player I have ever seen. Having said that, watching Didi day in and day out, you really see what the Yankees truly missed the last 5 years of Jeter's career. Can you think of another all time great that retired and someone stepped in and made you forget about the other person? Didi accomplished that.

2) This roster was turned over on the fly. Like or hate Cashman, he deserves all the credit for pulling the switch and trading Chapman, Miller, etc at the deadline less than 2 years ago. Think about it.....2 May's ago this was a lineup dominated by McCann as catcher, Texiera at first, Headly at 3rd and Ellsbury in center. They were 4 of 9 starters. In that short period of time, NYY has one of the youngest rosters in MLB, without a re-build season.

2a) The farm system is still LOADED. The problem is there are so many good players, not all with make the Majors with the Yankees. At some point, Hicks or Frazier is going to be part of a deal. I hope its Hicks.

3) This lineup isnt even at full strength. Still missing BIrd, Drury and now Montgomery. Drury may have injured his way out of the lineup (and possibly the team) and Bird will be a question mark until he can play more than a month without going on the DL.

Just a really fun team to watch.

Good points. Yes, fun to watch. Saturday, I happened to notice that they were down by a run in the 8th. I thought to myself, Let's see if they can pull another one off. Double, double, baserunner, three run homer.

Yeah, Didi filled right in. One other example is when Tino took over for Mattingly.

Yanks pound Kimbrel for four in the 8th. Gardner smacks a big triple and Judge hammers a homer to center. Yanks take first place.

Interesting stats.

Gary Sanchez is only batting .205, but is only three from the league lead in RBI's with 29.

I guess that happens then 17 of your 25 hits are doubles or homers, and, there are plenty of guys on base.

Despite that loss last night they still made the Red Sox work for that win. 17 out of the last 19 games too that’s very impressive. I like the Red Sox as well it should be a interesting race with these two teams for the AL East.

Also Gardy made a fine throw to nail the runner at the plate. There had been three consecutive walks by Chapman, then he gets out of the inning with no runs scored.
