Yeah.. school has no a/c and kids and teachers drop like flies with breathing issues. I know they never closed when we were kids, but honestly, I don't remember it getting this hot. Classrooms reach temps in the upper 90-100. Would you want to try and teach in those conditions??

Definetly had no AC in elementary school and def was as hot. Teachers don't want to teach inside, but I'm stuck working outside in the sun

Let's start a petition. If no available AC (it's a privilege and shouldn't be taken for granted anyway), we get sent home with pay

My school had no a/c and we, and our neighbors, had no a/c at home when I was a kid. We certainly had hot days in June.
I suspect that the janitor came in very early and let the cooler morning air in; it was tolerable.

Room air conditioners got popular by around 1970. One house on the block had central air by that time.
Somehow we made it through. lol
With that said, my parochial school year finished by around June 10 and the public schools finished about a week later.

Makes sense....cancel school and send kids home to a house without air conditioning.....its still hot.

And by the way, make the parents take time off from work in order to be with the kids.

Yea, I know.. We also didn't wear seatbelts, or have car seats for kids, played on playgrounds over concrete etc... Times evolve... I worked in an office many years back that was a modern glass building. The A/C went and the building closed for the day. It happens. Whatcha gonna do? I feel for people that work out in the heat.. personally, I couldn't handle it (especially now that I get hot flashes!!) :hyper:

no one can suck it up anymore. its a couple days at most.
I remember being luck if there was a fan in a classroom....even more lucky if it oscillated!
