Wake me up when someone predicts a warmer than normal winter. Cold predictions drive clicks, clicks drive views, views drive advertisers, advertisers pay month for views and clicks. Not saying it wont be cold, but there's a method to early predictions.

Has he ever said that we would be in store for a mild winter? My guess would be never.

I recall one time that JB predicted a mild and low snowfall winter and, ironically, it turned out to be cold and snowy. I also recall that he downplayed every snowstorm potential that winter and they all came true. It must have been killing him. Like rooting against your favorite team.

Euro seasonal from Ben Noll

-Continues to paint a stormy, cold picture for the East Coast.
-Pattern gets underway sooner; i.e. Nov or Dec, than last run.
-Feb still looks like the biggest month.
-Jan is wet West Coast.
-Driven by hybrid Niņo, Modoki-lean.

I want to say it was the winter of what we all called the Bloomberg storm, though I might be making that up.

Holy! Did you see the new UKMET? 👀

It shows the most anomalously cold air on the planet located over the eastern USA during winter 2018-19, a big time trend compared to the previous run.

Ben Noll

Every model is pointing to a cold and snowy winter for the east. Hopefully it stays like that.

It looks like winter is cancelled this year!! Every weather Outlet is calling for a major El Nino with warm and wet weather for the entire winter. don't even bother taking out your snow blowers leave the shovels in the back of the garage and let's open the pool

Who is calling for that?

Right now this winter looks very snowy and cold with a modoki el Nino. It's not even going to be strong.

all of the media sources in my area are following NOAA's prediction of a warm and wet winter. Do I agree with what they say? No I do not

I haven’t heard anyone calling for a strong El Niño. Weak to moderate is all you hear.

Link to NOAA article talking about warmer than normal temps. I am simply posting it, I have no opinion on long range forecasts.

I like that video at the bottom that shows all the snow that fell last winter. I guess the main idea is that a more moderate el nino will mean more snow chances. IMO it's good for DC to get a lot of snow. NYC will get theirs. Even in the 09-10 winter you ended with about the same amount as DC. And NW NJ got quite a bit more.
