System about to emerge off Africa, might be something to watch in the tropics. Expected to move westward across the eastern Atlantic, the area that many storms develop this time of year.

We are starting to get into heart of the tropical season.

I agree, the heat and humidity is getting a little old. The problem, the cold will get old to.

I'm so glad things are cooling off, the humidity is dropping, and it's starts to get more refreshing at the end of August.

Oh wait.

I agree WB, which is why this area is great to live in.. Just when you don't think you can take it anymore, the weather changes.. I'm glad its not rainy, but dam this humidity is making it hard to breathe....

Totally agree. Meanwhile today is the hottest and most uncomfortable that we have had in my area all season long. Currently 94 degrees with a heat index of 105. The wind is WNW, and in the summer that can be Long Islands warmest wind, no ocean relief.

The Atlantic might get interesting with waves coming off the African coast. This is prime time for tropical storms.

Lows:

Sussex 69F
LGA 84F

Even on the hottest of heat waves, Sussex County still always manages to drop into the 60's at night. Wonder what the warmest low temp ever recorded at Sussex was.

The worst of the heat this season has come at the tail end of summer.
Also we haven't seen dewpoints this high in a couple of years. Many places in South Jersey had dewpoints into the 80s today. Almost doesn't seem right, but it happened over a pretty widespread area so I would assume the readings are accurate.

Down here our hottest stretch was in June although itís been pretty humid lately. But mid 70s dew pats are high for Charlotte.

Looks like certain areas off to our west may be under some downpours that aren't moving very much. Also looks like Sussex County may be seeing some of it.

Drove from Morris county to Milford and back this morning. It as teeming in Sparta between around 11 and noon and rain extended from Milford down to Jefferson at the noon-1pm hour of that drive.

And so ends a long hot humid month.
Love summer but the nighttime temps and humidity were too much
