Feel free to talk here about any local or state political musings in the Tri State Area. Everything here is fair game (as far as local and state politics are concerned)...de Blasio, Cuomo, Murphy, Dan Malloy, the old IDC in New York, governor's races in New York and Connecticut, and much more.

Last election, he won 52.7% of the vote with 33.2% voter turnout. Which means that only 17.5% of all registered voters in NY voted for Cuomo in 2014, and 82.5% didn't vote for him (whether it be voting for someone else or staying home). You add the numbers up, and it may be hard to find lots of people who voted for him (as compared to the total population of New York State).
But those who voted for him were mostly centered within or near major urban centers: New York, Syracuse, and Buffalo. More than half of his votes in 2014 (maybe even closer to 60% of his votes) came from the five boroughs, Nassau County, Westchester County, Erie County (where Buffalo is), and Onondaga County (where Syracuse is).

Other than hating and opposing Trump, what does he stand for?
Hating de Blasio at times.
From my (liberal) standpoint, here are his pros and cons...
Pros:
Same-sex marriage
Free college tuition
Increasing the minimum wage
Cons:
Corruption
Lack of will to address corruption
Vindictive
MTA getting worse
Lack of will with voting reforms
Opposes universal health care in NY
Upstate economy still pretty meh
To me the cons outweigh the pros.

And yet he will post a double digit win. I truly believe people get what they deserve. Congress has a 10% approval rating, yet the vast majority of incumbents will be re-elected. Put it another way....if you worked on a contract basis and delivered on 10% of the job you were hired to do, would your contract be renewed? Of course not.

Totally agree.
The Republicans haven't helped themselves with the lousy fundraising efforts. Say what you want about Cuomo (and I'm no fan of his), but he has an overwhelming amount of $$$.

And what does that say about our system? Its corrupt to the core and just benefits the big donors. If you are not giving 7 figures to parties and PAC's your voice will never be heard. And the parties or the politicians elected to represent you dont care whether you like it or not. They go on getting done what the party wants them to do and get re-elected.

Agreed. And that's exactly what happens with Cuomo...7 figures are given to those who help him.
Though it will be interesting to see what (if any) further traction there is to the backlash over what you mention. I think some of that backlash manifested itself with Bernie's 2016 campaign (and even Trump's campaign, with the idea that he's "too rich to be bought"). But will that backlash turn into systematic changes? We'll see...

Because the the dense (double-meaning there) urban populations of the state follow the democratic party like lemmings off the cliff. They eat up what the biased media serves them and do not think for themselves.

I havent seen one commercial for Molinaro but everyone has signs on their lawns up here supporting him. I hope this Kavanaugh disaster fires up the conservatives and Cuomo gets his walking papers. He is such SCUM. What I would give to see him get sucker punched at the polls like Trump did to Hillary.
