Bill Evans has less an a inch for NYC. 1-3 N&W which all will wash away by late evening. Probably accumulating just on grassy surfaces.

I would be shocked if my area is all rain late evening.
Going with 4 at my house to sleet & some freezing rain at the tail end.

Euro is cold

Few inches for the city and inland

It's all going to depend on how much cad there will be at the start. I can see the city get a few inches or the city get nothing.

11/15/18 : 5.0"
1/18/19 : 0.5"
1/30/19 : 0.8"

I would be surprised if the city gets more than an inch. Remember it is November, and also working with marginal conditions. Probably the type of snow that will melt right on pavement but stick to colder surfaces. All the radio/tv forecasts are calling for a quick changeover for the city.

I was going to put snow tires on my car, but don't think the roads here will be anything more than slush. I'm 10 miles west of NYC.

I wouldn't be shocked if it comes down hard for a time being tomorrow when the cold air is established. Everyone will eventually go to rain.

On the chance we get enough, followed by some reasonable lasting cold that doesn't melt it all away, I thought, ah, what the hell, and got the Christmas lights on the roof today!

Took a road thermometer out at work for jokes. Our parking lot surface was 49 degrees. Roads possibly a degree or 2 more due to traffic. Underneath the surface is still warm, and most likely has alot of ground water that's warm. Will be cold tonight, but so was this morning

Yeah, the winter weather advisory posted for NE NJ basically states this is a grass storm.

WWA 1 - 3 for my area according to Mt. Holly. Brine trucks have been out in my area all afternoon. Good thing they did not wait on Mt. Holly to issue their WWA.

I hear you on not wanting freezing rain. Theres nothing worse. I think we'll get 3 maybe 4" then alot of sleet. I wouldn't be surprised if we pick up a couple more inches of snow with that ULL moving over us, or just to our SE Friday morning.
Ground is cold, so should accumulate right away. 28° here already.

I'm under a Winter Storm Watch:

WINTER STORM WATCH IN EFFECT FROM THURSDAY AFTERNOON THROUGH FRIDAY AFTERNOON... * WHAT...HEAVY MIXED PRECIPITATION POSSIBLE. TOTAL SNOW ACCUMULATIONS OF 2 TO 5 INCHES AND ICE ACCUMULATIONS OF UP TO ONE TENTH OF AN INCH POSSIBLE.

It will accumulate up here as it was in the 20's last night and only 34 today. I'm already at 29 degrees going down to 19.

Models are indicating if you are North of 84 you have a good shot to stay snow and dumped on. Anything in between north of NYC and LHV is tricky between how soon does snow changeover to mix or if it does at all depending on how that offshore pressure tightens up.

That wet ground is crusting up as we speak. Down to 26 already. Yes, there is no frost to maintain any snow, but surface will be frozen tomorrow. Snow will accumulate quite fast.
