They got Cano and Diaz and today they signed Wilson Ramos to a 2year deal worth 19 million.

I like these acquisitions. Plus the GM quoted as saying “We’re the East favorites we have more spending money”. Makes one optimistic about the future. But I refuse to place any real expectations. We still have holes at a couple of lineup spots. I’m curious to see what 1B Peter Alonso does. His defense has been criticized but many are raving about his power potential.

I just got back from Port St Lucie. I was there for a week with my friends This was my 1st time ever going to spring training and it was a great experience. I met a lot of players and took a lot of pictures and got autographs.

Honestly, I always hear people say where the expect the Mets to be. I’ve been hearing around 80-85 wins. To me I just want to see the development of the younger players as the season goes on. Durability to me has been the KEY detriment to this team. I’m looking forward to going to a couple of games this year. Hopefully it ends with at least a Wild Card appearance.

That is going to be a regrettable contact. A guy coming off a career year, turning 31 and $27.5M/yr committed, including a full no trade clause. Hope it works out, cant imagine its going to.

I think it will as long as he stays healthy.

Have you seen the other contracts given out recently? Insane

its certainly within the range of what is being offered, no doubt. However, Trout, Harper, Machado are all in their or just entering their prime years. Sale and this deal are risky to me. deGrom is 31 will now be on the downside of his career. Its risky. Sale is the same thing....turns 30 this week, injured much of the 2H of 2019. Both probably have 1-2 good/great seasons left and then it will be questionable.

My point is deGrom may never acheive what he did last season, but will be paid like the 2018 version through 2024.

Hard to duplicate a season the likes of which had never been done before. I think he'll be fine though, through the length of the contract. Remember, he is a converted shortstop (big reason why he fields so well), so his pitching arm does not have the mileage of most pitchers his age.
You're only young once, but you have your whole life to be immature!

I didn't even realize he was 31. Thought he was a good 3-4 years younger than that. He's only been in the majors for 5 years so maybe there's not the normal wear and tear on him yet.

Here are his stats.
Last year was career year. His 2018 ERA+ performance ranks 23rd all-time.
2018 -- 10-9 on a 1.70 ERA, sheesh.
