Many pro mets ...are looking at this time period as the start of good things for snow lovers...my favorite saying fits well here ...Many say powder keg potential million dollar question..will it go BOOM..time will tell ..

I hope this snowless weather pattern changes soon. Very boring. And Iím sick of the rain.

Euro ensembles split the vortex but the cold air ends up on the wrong side.

I remember several years ago I was eating outside at spumoni gardens in Brooklyn in short sleeves on NYE.

I wonder if the stratospheric warming is playing tricks with the models.



This would have been a slam dunk winter for our area if the mjo cooperated.



This would be a huge busts for majority of forecasters if this winter turns out to be a dud.

Guys, last winter started off slowly, but ended up a very interesting winter; with 47 inches of snow here. That is almost double the annual average snowfall for my area.

27 of my 47 inches came after February 17. FD

November 15, 2018 - 4.1 inches (Miller A "over-performing" - to sleet, freezing rain, rain, back to sleet on 11/16 7 am)
January 13, 2019 - 0.2 inches (northern edge of "southern slider")
January 18, 2019 - 0.6 inches (weak mid-western storm)
January 30, 2019 - 0.5 inches (intense 20 minute squall on arctic front)
February 11, 2019 - 0.3 inches (northern edge of weak wave from the west)
February 12, 2019 - 1.1 inches snow-sleet-snow-rain (front-end of wave from the west)
February 20, 2019 - 2.3 inches (front-end of wave from the west)
February 28, 2019 - 0.2 inches (southern edge of a clipper)
March 1, 2019 - 0.3 inches (weak clipper)
March 2, 2019 - 3.3 inches
March 4, 2019 - 4.6 inches (SW storm)

Seasonal Total - 17.5 inches

El ninos are backloaded so we shall see

Models are trending stinger with the low for next week.

Too early to say what the track will be but interior sections will be favored.

Snow started falling here about 1/2 hr ago. Everything getting white including the roads.

This mornings GFS is a big hit for interior. Looks like coast is snow to rain to snow, NW NJ is snow to ice to snow. Poconos and Catskills remain all snow. This is for Jan 3. Letís keep trending this one
