Oak Ridge Rd is one of the transition points I've seen in my years living here. I've identified basically 4 on my commute home.
1st is on 23, the hill coming up to rt 287 in Riverdale.
2nd is the S turns on 23 in Kinnelon/W. Milford.
3rd is Oak Ridge rd.
4th is when you go under the Canistear rd Tressel. Then all bets are off.

Definitely agree with you on this re: transition zones. Once you are past Canistear Road and especially into Stockholm that where its not only precip differences but even large temp differences on average days.

It’s been snowing lightly here all day. Rain/snow line just to the east of Round Valley. Approximately 2.5 inches on the deck. 31 degrees.

Dondraper and I would prefer a full frontal event. I would be so happy with half inch of snow so i could make some money salting but looks unlikely in Nassau county here on long island

Measured 4 1/2 inches at my house with another 3 to 4 hours to go before it ends. Should definitely finish with at least 6. Very peaceful, no wind, just falling snow. I'll take this type of snow fall over a wind blown snow fall anytime.

Interesting how the rain/snow line is almost north/south with this event. I would have thought that the rain/snow line in your area would have been further east closer towards I287. All snow here and the rain/snow line stayed about 15-20 miles to my east.

Was it all snow from the Canistear Road light on 23 and points north?

Yup. Zero rain here. If temp was a degree or two colder, would probably have 4" at this point. Was stuck at like 32.5° for hours. Now 31, with steady snow. Probably a little bit too late.
