I love this summary from the Mt. Holly office:

So an early hypothesis on the end of the week would
feature something we've seen several times this winter: a
leading wave sliding over or south of the region around Friday,
with a larger storm behind it tracking to our west through the
Great Lakes. A good deal of the latest guidance favors something
like that.
But at this early stage that this is still
speculative, and it`s much too early for any details.

Yup. Here it is. After a quick hit of snow or mix on Friday, this bombing low goes up into the GL area.
Lots of snow up in Minnesota this winter. Same pattern.

Yup . A relentless pattern that has been with us all winter. Trough in the west , ridge in the east. West to east upper air flow like a ruler. No storms in the Atlantic to cause any blocking, they all scoot out west to east or northeast. It is what it is. Mother Nature will do what she wants.

Tonight should drop especially in inland locations with snowpack.
Thursday morning may also be a brutal morning in those colder pockets too with arctic air in place and snowpack.

Had a quick burst of snow when I left work in Putnam County at 12:15am. Gave a quick coating to an inch over there. Strange the forecast and current obs stated clear skies but my car and pavement at the job were quickly covered and slippery. No mention of snow. By the time I made to Orange County on I-84 there was nothing. Seemed as if the snow squall only affected Putnam County. Odd.

The 12-hour loop shows that scattered snow showers passed through north Jersey between about 11:30 pm and 1 am. FD
