Weather.com still calling for mix / snow for NW NJ. 3 days running now.

4-10" based on accumulation amounts reported Sun, Sun night, Mon, Mon night.

And before you all leap on me and say its way too early ... I am just the messenger.

TWC has me at 10" then yesterday dropped me to 3" and today I am back up to 10". I just think its stupid to post accumulations. NWS in there forecast discussion does not post totals and just mentions plowable snow possible.

Trend on the models this morning has been for a significant accumulation of snow NW suburbs with a deepening secondary low developing off the coast. Sun-Mon timeframe. Would not surprised to see WSW’s posted by tomorrow.

Snow is possible out of this system but again this is another storm coming in from the west and not the south. We are hoping for intensification off our coast as it is moving away. Not our best scenario. If it can move very slowly, inland especially has the best chance to see accumulation.

I would like to see an explanation of what’s going on. I thought storms coming across the Lakes never pan out for us.

They don’t, but there is a Greenland block which is going to force a L to form along the coast. How far south it
forms will determine how much snow falls and where.

The venerable Joe Bastardi demands more from everyone. His debonaire barometric wisdom transcends small minded ruminations and he is unafraid to lay the meteorological pipe to take the temperature outdoors.

Don your postings certainly make checking in on NYCWEATHER totally worthwhile. Amy believes this winter will be a long and hard one. It’s been a while she said and is looking forward to it.

I agree. If this can redevelop off the Virginia or even Delaware coast and it moves up the coast from the south and passes near 40/70, even the coast can get something. Right now it looks to form off N.J. just south of Long Island. If it does that and moves slowly it could give the coast a slop fest and some snow inland but it has to move slowly.
