Was going to start a thread on this, thanks for doing it.

This is rapidly spiraling out of control, whether real or contrived. But perception is reality and right now the perception is 1) the government has not acted quickly enough 2) financial markets are in a panic, which people translate into their daily lives and 3) people are plain scared. I think within the next few days, we will see an Italy-like lock down in certain areas....Nationally would not surprise me. I live near Orlando, I am waiting for Walt Disney World and Universal to announce closings. MLB season will certainly be delayed, my guess tells me Opening Day will not be until May 1 at best, more likely end of May (they will need another spring training lite). NBA and NHL seasons will be cancelled, no playoffs.

I think there is a massive overreaction going on, but I also see how supply chains around the world have been impacted and the US is just last in line feeling the impacts, health wise.

cancel shouldn't be the verbiage.
postpone temporarily is much more prudent

I believe NBA and NHL will be cancelled, not postponed.

The NBA is suspending the season until further notice. I wouldn't be shocked to see baseball do this.

Opening day is just a few weeks away...I could see the games being played without 30,000 to 40,000 fans being allowed to congregate in the stands....

I think MLB will be forced by guilt into delaying the season, particularly if NBA and NHL are locked down.

Its my opinion that all Americans have to start thinking of extreme travel measures being implemented within the next 7 days. That means no domestic air travel, quarantines for certain towns/cities and interstate travel and commerce. It sounds extreme, but 14 days ago did anyone really believe cases would be to this level, the president would suspend air travel to Europe or a city 15 miles north of NYC would be controlled by the National Guard? I don't think anything is extreme at this point.

yes
id rather they suspend until they get a hold, then cancel if necessary.
perhaps logistically this is impossible

I admit I took this lightly until now. I believe we have to do everything to get it under control.

There are rumors on twitter that mass transit in NYC will be shutdown starting tonight.

Just rumors for now

Completely agree. I have been immersed in this for weeks so I am exhausted by it, but I never felt like it would be an issue here.

NYC declares state of emergency. DeBlasio will explain the powers "vested to him". The d-bag acutally held a press conference to sign the SOE declaration. Nothing like a public health crisis to show yourself off.

Same stuff, no public gatherings, yada, yada, yada.

About 10 years ago there was the swine flu. Most people don't seem to remember much about it. Here are some facts. About 1 billion people worldwide were affected, yes that is billion. There were about 500,000 deaths and to make it worse it hit young people hard. The U.S. had about 61 million people affected and over 12,000 deaths. It is good we are being cautious about Caronavirus but lets try and keep things somewhat in perspective.

We’ve reached a new normal. I would expect that we will see this type of reaction once every few years. Welcome.

Agree Carib. But if we can be more prepared we can limit the spreads at least. I also didn't realize the #'s on the swine flu. Didn't seem that bad and this feels worse. But it's only been barely 3 months?

NYC: so no gatherings over 500, but keep the schools and mass transit open.
got it
NJ : no gatherings over 250, all schools practically closed mass transit ok. JC bars have to close after 10 pm (covid19 more severe over night?)
sports shut down.
ohio no gatherings over 100?
casinos open (many old people there who are the ones dying)
best buy open to buy nothin needed to survive the GLOBAL PANDEMIC

SO

this is so random, doe this not make anyone think something larger is up? why are children who arent affected as severely limited to schools blut elderly can gamble?
theres no rhyme or reason other than someone up top wants chaos.
is this a last ditch effort for the dems to crush trumps economy?

if its this severe shouldnt everything shutdown for minimum 2 weeks?

im just going to work like nothing happening today.
idk

I was indirectly involved with an athletic event for this weekend, involving kids, that was cancelled yesterday. It could have gone on with less than 500 people. At the same time many of my local community schools are open and the one school I am thinking of has about 2000 kids. Vascudave I don't understand it either.
