Looks like some storm potential later Thanksgiving weekend. Models look better for cold. See if it stays on the next few runs before we take it too seriously.

18z GFS actually shows an event for the east coast for 12/1. Itís at hour 252 so I would not get too invested in it but it might be a time period to watch. The current event is going to lay down a swath of snow from the Toronto area on up past Montreal. The NAM has been playing with the idea of getting the northern suburbs of Buffalo in on this one however itís an outlier. Itís pretty telling that you are in a crappy pattern for snow when upstate NY starts out an event with a touch of snow and goes quickly to rain. Meanwhile the same event is expected to dump up to a foot of snow on the north shore of Lake Ontario in Canada. I have vacationed up in upstate NY near the lakes recently. I was surprised to learn that there are miles and miles of wineries and vineyards along the roads that run near Lakes Erie and Ontario. I never would thought that would be the case up there when all you think is how much lake effect snow falls there each winter.

Yeh I remember the first time I went to Niagara Falls we drove about 45 north to Lake Ontario. It was a nice stretch with a ton of wineries.

The event that the models are following for next week looks like it will be an inland runner. It looks to be a potent system nonetheless.

Next week looks interesting with several ULLs and cold air. Maybe not a typical winter storm set up but I would expect if you are in the right spot there will be snow.

Went to LI today and on my way home a little while ago I saw tons of newly formed rivers along route 23 in Jefferson and Stockholm, rivers swollen all over and a ton more rain coming. Looking like the area from Stockholm up to Highland Lakes got particularly hit hard

It's so weird to,see it. Even Northen Main is getting rain. That saying is correct. When it's snowing in southern mountains everyone else in north is getting rain. I forget where I saw that map with weather sayings.
