SORRY ..a bit early for December but in my opinion never too early to talk about snow chances...Any thoughts regarding when cold air pattern..may evolve. Also any early ramblings. On the chance of a white Xmas??

The models do show a lot of cold air spilling down into the east. Plus a bunch of ULL's like i mentioned. It might not all be pretty for everyone but it is setting up to be a wild month.

You will need to be at least 1000 up in those NW areas if you want to see accumulating snow with this one. The models are still kicking around different outcomes however so nothing is currently set in stone.

Glad we did not get snow. this would have been disastrous for the power grid. Places in Connecticut and Massachusetts now getting heavy wet snow

Yea amazing dynamics. 33-35 degrees with heavy snow. Those yellow and orange rain bands going into snow have to be 1-2 inch per hour rates

Continues to be an elevation dependent event in most areas up there. Areas along and south and east I95 south of Boston continue to be all rain.

This is a tough deal if you are a snow lover in the NYC area. Unfortunately there is a history of events taking place in this region at this time of the year where snow lovers get the shaft. 39 years ago on 12/5/81 bombogenesis took place 200 miles east of Cape Cod. The snow shield backed into eastern CT and MA and RI and dumped up to 24 there. We had overcast skies and strong winds from the north gusting up to 55 mph. At least this time we got the precip...
