i would say it looks similar with a lot of back and forth. NAO looks neutral to negative but the storm track still looks too far west for the most part.

Need that PNA to go positive to push storm track east.

Looks like we stay in the same pattern for the next couple of weeks. No signs of any real arctic intrusions, nor any signs we torch, and storms continue to cut well to the west. Wash, rinse, repeat. At this stage for me, if we can keep ticking weeks off the calendar without any brutally harsh cold, that's great. And I'll always sign up for an early spring.

I know it's only weather.com 10+ day forecast. But my area is mostly forecasted highs in low mid 40s and lows between 30-35. Screams pacific air pattern

After the first week in January we might be looking at some pretty cold air in a split polar vortex. Thatís what Iím reading at various sites hope itís true.

Good post and it is true

Weeklies show the pacific getting better by 2nd week of January with a strenghting negative NAO through the whole month into February.

That would be good - then maybe it will be on the way out by March.

I can see this getting pushed back to the end of January then the beginning of February. Just always seems to play out that way. I hope Iím wrong.

When the pacific is going strong it always gets pushed back. There will continue to be brief shots of cold and thread the needle snow events until further notice.

Yes and no. It doesn't look too impressive to me. While it's similar to the last snowstorm, there's a lot less moisture and cold air. But it's something to look forward to before the next rain and warmup haha.
