Lol the snow on the ruler looked more like 24.5. I rounded up lol.
I think some of those higher amounts did not take compaction into effect.

Yup exactly , the old
Method of clearing off would produce those numbers but they changed the clearing off method . You only clear off and add the new to ground totals of you changed to rain then back to snow

I'm in Sparta - I don't think we had the 32" that CBS reported, although it's hard to tell with the blowing and drifting.
I'd say more along the lines of 2 feet. I measured 18" on the deck with a homemade snow steak. However, with all of the wind, I noticed very little accumulated near it once it hit about 16", it mostly kept blowing away, and I know we definitely got more than 16" - 18".

There is no one anyone will get an accurate measurement. Even trained spotter. I call bs on alot of these totals being reported for some areas. No way anyone in Sussex County got 30. I measured anything from,a low of 17 to a high of 26 with spots over 30 in drifts.

There are several posters on the Hackettstown message board with totals at least 28". It's not just one random person. Those bands were definitely heavier to the south. Not talking about that much of a difference.
