By the way. Starting this winter the NWS has now changed the way they forecast ice accretion. They used to do "radial", now forecast "flat".

1inch flat = .40 radial.

So their .5inch forecast would have been .2 in their old forecasts. Significant, yes, crippling, no

46 here in south Brooklyn

This storm  is more amped than what the models showed. Places near the lakes are getting sleet right now.

Still 33 here. We've actually ticked down from 36 earlier. No glaze that I can tell, but they called an all remote for school. I would assume some cold air got trapped at low elevations, as they said parts of our district had ice.

Looks like the temps are crashing already, especially to our south. I made it to 39 so far, let's see if I can break 40. It does seem like the sun might be trying to get through.

Beautiful out for the moment. Grab the sunscreen and shorts.
Temp is up to 46, with deep blue sky. Water is pouring off the roofs which is a good thing.
Probably won't last, but I'll enjoy for a few minutes between virtual classes.

Believe it or not it's been bad here too. Very little sun this winter and of course tons of rain. Sun is out today and it's near 50 but it's barely been 40 for the last 5 or 6 days, even during the day.

my snow pack compressed by about 6 inches today in the warm sun, but there was hardly any runoff. When it refreezes tonight it is going to be an iceberg.
