Hey everyone, just curious if anyone on the board has had their dog contract Leptospirosis? My dog has been in the animal hospital for close to 5 days now on IV and what not.

Leptospirosis is basically a bacterial infection that attacks both the Liver and Kidneys. It's mainly from water that has been contaminated with wildlife urine (Squirrel, Raccoon, Deer, etc) Has anyone gone though this with their pets on the board? The Vet says it has been very common this year with all the rain we have had.

It's been pretty hard the past week, not having that member of the family at the house happy to see you when you come home from work. And boy is it hard to sit in the quiet house! Hopefully she will be home sometime next week, going to visit her later and get a Ultra Sound done to see how badly her Kidneys/ Liver have been effected.

Please keep Trixie in your thought and prayers!

My dog has been in for surgery before, albeit not for a disease like Leptospirosis. It's scary. Good luck, and I hope Trixie gets better soon .

Thanks for all your Support guys!

Saw her this evening, she looks so much better! She will be coming home Tomorrow evening, regardless of her condition, we need to get her eating. Then its back to the vet sometime next week for an Ultra Sound!

Well she came home Yesterday afternoon, she is still very weak and sleeping all day. She is drinking water but refuse's to eat food. Waiting to hear back from the vet this morning on her Blood Work. She may be headed back on Tuesday if there's no improvement and she doesn't start eating.
