Barely a cloud in the sky. Should cloud up later as a weak disturbance approaches this evening with some flurries.
Mercifully, little wind.
From Mt. Holly:
.SHORT TERM /6 PM THIS EVENING THROUGH THURSDAY/...
-- Changed Discussion --ITS NOT TOO OFTEN THAT ONE HAS A WAA SHOT THAT COMES FROM THE NORTHEAST, BUT THIS IS WHAT IS FORECAST TO OCCUR TONIGHT AS THE
SMALL CLOSED LOW ROTATES THROUGH OUR CWA WHILE TEMPERATURES
INCREASE AROUND 850 MB. WHILE NOT HEAVY THIS CLOSED LOW WAS
PRODUCING SOME LIGHT SNOW AND FLURRIES IN ONTARIO, NOT LAKE EFFECT
INDUCED.

that is truly depressing right on my birthday lolololololol
what a jolt eh? to get cold and dry for days on end, then a soaking mild rainstorm, even JB in his column is concerned that may happen as he says he was burned two times in th epast and has to look at that further

Sure it would suck but i don't ever remember any winter not having a thaw so you have to expect it. Hopefully the pattern reloads with a more favorable storm track for us.

the dream pattern was the winter of 1995-96 we had a snowstorm or snow every other 2 days , yes even then we had a thaw but the week after was back to snowstorms every other two days.

It is a pretty good looking day here in NYC. Sunny and not brutal, but rather cold with temps near 30F. I just checked my outlook and MAN, it is one heck of a dry forecast, other than a few snowshowers on Friday, NYC stays bone dry through all of next week. WOW...Dry and cold weather is not a given. Hopefully, some white stuff will show up. I still have pockets of snows in my area, but a new fresh snow pack would be nice.

Seems every time we get below normal temps we get below normal precip to go with it. Another arctic blast wasted. I can see it now the next big storm ends up being a rain maker.

The pattern will change and everyone on this board will be asking when will it change back??? When is it going to snow??? You know the same old routine!!!! Once the pattern changes we will always be one week away from it changing back!!! Then winter will be over!! Keep the cold in place for the rest of the winter and just hope for some snow. (AFTER ALL IT IS WINTER AND IT SHOULD BE COLD)

JB intimated that those that got the big snowstorm should just be happy they got it as that may very well have been the highlight for this winter and the "dream pattern", and those that missed out, simply missed out. It happens he says. This, coming from a guy who finds a way of getting drama from even a light snow, is almost the equivalent of JB putting up the white flag on winter. Interesting choice of words by him. Hmmm.

It probably will be the highlight of the winter for those that got hit hard by the December storm. After all it is not to often a storm like that comes around. The fact that we have not had any major snows since the December storm really is not a great surprise, even with a good pattern. We average about 30 inches of snow on the coast, so we can't expect big snows every week or even every few weeks.

JB in his write up on the winter said that one or two big snowstorms will make it to the averages of what people get for the whole winter, so if philadelphia averages like 23 inches a season, they already got it in one storm, so anything now is just bonus and of course we have lots of winter to go

Weatherbowl -- Completely agree, I've seen it happen so many times over the years -- If a big snow event occurs, some people look for and expect the same in every subsequent weather event and scout the model runs day and night for the next big one. Doesn't happen that way around here, except in the rarest of winters.

I looked up Blairsville, about 40 miles east of Pittsburgh. Does that area always get this much LES or is this a stronger year?

Yes, but he used that argument primarily to claim that he's already verfied on his snowfall outlook, regardless of what happens the rest of winter, and to get the "snow geese weenies" who have been comlaining, off his back. He's telling those folks -- look, be happy with what you got and stop complaining, and to those that missed out -- hey, it happens.
