Ice -- With respect to the area of higher precip over MD, etc., versus lower amounts north, here's what DT stated: "if the gap in QPF between Philly and NYC is because of the low transference, then how does that second burst of heavy QPF over central and eastern MD develop on the WEST and SOUTHWEST side of the coastal low which is still moving?" This has been puzzling me all day, more so than your issues with Boston precip. The higher precip totals for DC and vicinity and east are not coming early in the event according to the modeling, but later. Therefore, it's not due to precip from the initial low but from the bombing coastal. So tell me how they get a burst of heavy precip from a bombing low to their northeast and moving away, and we get less precip from a bombing low, sitting in a perfect spot, to our southeast? No way. Either they're going to bust on the high side in DC, or we're going to bust on the low side here, or both.

dont forget..there is not a lot of moisture to work with in the middle of the country..however they are getting pounded with snow... we will have a coastal low that will develop and provide even more moisture
