This will hopefully be a useful thread for people with children or people who are teachers. This storm may be dangerous and any information about the schools would be very useful.

This is not going to work, how are we going to post all the School closures for NY/NJ/CT area? You're better off checking your local news channels website - I know news12li.com keeps up-to-date school closures for Long Island.
But I can tell you from past experiences with this on the board, its not going to happen. Good intent though

Yeah, I would think basically every school district will be closed in the area. The only one that will most likely be open? New York City public schools
Thursday will probably have a lot of delay openings too, maybe some might even close again.

For those in the Hudson Valley, including Westchester, WHUD offers texting of school delays and closures, you can register on line at WHUD.com...I do not even have to listen to radio or computer, texts usually come before 5:30, which is earlier than the TV stations start showing. I love it....

I'll call it for you -- everything will be closed tomorrow, most will be closed Thursday as well, with the possibility of some delays/closings lingering into Friday, if I'm correct about the magnitude of this storm.

I'm dead wrong.
When I went to public school in NYC in the late 80s and 90s they were never closed. Are NYC schools starting to get a bit more soft and have more leeway now about closing or is just me having this feeling?

As a kid growing up in Brooklyn, i went to private school, but i hardly remember NYC schools being closed. It would have to be an all out blizzard, which we quite a few of back in the 60's. And if they would close them it would never be 24 hrs in advance.
My sis in law in flushing said that they closed the day before a year or 2 ago, they have to announce early so parents can find day care.....I too went to private schools in NYC, so they closed more often, but I did go to PS 84 in Astoria for Kindergarten, lived right around the corner and I remember a snow day, 1969....
