Going to be rough, snow, rain, ice...
Temps today still about 8 degrees below normal
Cold air stays locked as the storm re-forms south of us
Mix and rain along the coast...
Several inches possible away from the coast and the city - school closures possible...
Once again - I don't see this changing and going in the other direction - it never does - take it to the bank
Summer's prediction - 50 miles or so away from NYC may get a 3-6 snowfall - almost everyone else a mix with maybe an inch or two of snow - sorry this is how I see it - when the mets say mix and rain we never get a big snowstorm along the coast (by big I mean 6 inches plus)... Let's see if this changes... :(

Well, Summer, of course YOU dont see any changes, but that doesn't mean it's a lost storm. Remember, the models are only for guidance. Still have to wait and see. Be positive.

I am positive and always hope things will change but I am not going to discount the fact that every local met is not calling for a substantial snowstorm and think we are going to get one... Hope yes, head in the sand no...

Freak - I 100% agree with you - but I see it very differenly in regards snow - no met was calling for a good size snow event last time around the city and on this point they were correct - if it had been a good size snow event I would have eaten my words and called it a huge bust...

I don't think anyone ever said that this was a 6"+ for anyone, so why do you keep stating the same thing over and over again in every thread like you're arguing with someone and proving that you're right?

You are the farthest you could possibly be from positive and your negativity really rubs some people the wrong way. I hope you are only like this online and not in real life .. could be tough to keep friends with your persistence and need to loudly broadcast your negativity over and over and over and over again.

Summer... what everyone is saying is lets wait a little while longer... still 36 hours away from the event
And even if the tv mets are not saying a lot of snow , etc, last time they blew the storm big time including some pro mets we deal with on here...
And they have conceded....... it was very DIFFICULT to predict....
Last time, according to the TV graphics 2 HOURS before the event , my area was "suppose to get a little" ice, mixed with freezing rain , then turn to all
rain and wash everything away... Not only did I NOT get any rain, but I got 4 inches of the hardest sleet and ice which is STILL on my lawn today..
So lets not downplay any scenerio...mets whether pro or not, are not the end all when talking about ANY storm, and this event is looking
as unpredictable as the last....

I agree I am negative on this one but has this winter given anyone reason to be positive?
Once again I am not saying this will not be a terrible storm and commute just do not see a snow event and you can wait all you want and the mets will not be wrong about a lack of snow... now ice/rain anyone could guess on this... stay posted

Please Summer, keep broadcasting your negativity. It's really enjoyable for all of us to read. Yay!

I agree Summer, even it is all snow, at this point it only looks to be 3-6. The way this winter has been that would be like a raging blizzard. :)

Freeride,
why have you chosen to personally attack me when I am simply stating my views and have never attacked anyone.
Do I make a few jokes about snow crowd sure but I never personally engage in the negative personal attacks you choose to engage in.
I will not post any different views from now on

Rg,
Agree things have changed and agree that Monday morning will be terrible - just do not see, based on Robbs analysis of 12 NAM and other comments from all mets, that this is a significant snow event for most - this is my only point - I should have stated this in a more positive manner... Move on I was wrong and take the blame for the posts.. move on

People have to realize this was a 40-45 degree rainstorm for the whole area a few days ago. Folks disagreed with me on this being a potentially significant snow/ice storm -- now look. The large shifts in models are probably finished; but any minor movement (50 miles N or S) of the 850mb 0c line and its the difference between 100% snow, 50% snow/sleet, or sleet and freeezing rain.

I agree with you Storm.. when I saw your earlier post about the cold settling in I said to myself "Self...(lol) ..I think Storm is going out on a limb with this one"
Bur as it turns out this event is more in tune to what you were saying, although as we know things can still change right up to the event.
But I think you nailed it....

Bob, thanks, but don't want to count my chickens before they hatch here. I am very confident on little or no rain with this system.
