Its stronger for central, NJ and slighly colder. I dont know how the soundings are thou. Maybe dynamic cooling can get some snow for central, NJ. Right?

I don't see it colder. The 850 line is further north at 42 hours and is draped accross extreme northern NJ and western LI. Most of NJ and eastern LI are south of the 850 line. The 540 line is north of everyone but extreme northwest NJ. This is a snow to mix or rain event for nearly all except extreme northwest NJ and I wouldn't count on no mix there eirther.

That freakin' low over the great lakes is our worst enemy as it sucks up the warm air from the south to the west of our area. This is going to be another nowcast situation right down to the last minute. Although not the exact same set-up it is very reminiscent of the V-Day storm. Wait and see and keep your fingers crossed.

Snowfreak, not all is lost. The precip goes back to snow across all of northern NJ, NY Metro, and LI beyond 42 hours (based on 850 and 540 lines only -- really have to look at soundings to make sure it's not sleet/ice).

I have heard enough of 850 and 540 lines north of our area in last ten days. >:(

God Almighty, this could be another sleet/freezing rain storm for parts of Monmouth county. 12Z NAM is snow to sleet to freezing rain for us per soundings -- the surface remains below freezing everywhere, no rain, but mid levels warm to 1.0c. (850mb)
For NYC - it's snow and sleet, possibly a decent accumulation of both.
Once again, I'm not seeing a change to rain in NYC as some mets are right now. Winds remain NELY at the lower-levels, off the land -- wind direction is key here.

Monmouth County did get the worst hit in the VD storm, while up here in Northwest Middlesex County we had some pretty decent sleet and snow...i hope we get good snows this time?

Snow Crowd,
This is a no major snow event for most places within 50 miles of NYC - lets stop trying to spin it
It will be a terrible Monday morning commute but nothing suggests a 6 inch snow event

Because it seems to upset people that want snow and get on my back because I so strongly resist them when I see no evidence to support their views... If I am wrong I always state it... You can take that to the bank.. LOL

Summer, this was never a major snow event as major snow is 12"+ amounts. Significant -- that's a different story. Take it to the PNC Arts center.

Summer, the truth is you don't know what is going to happen. What's really annoying is that you are on every post with a loudspeaker trying to broadcast what nobody wants to hear. This coming from from someone who really doesn't know alot about the weather. Leave it to the guys who know what they are looking at and keep the hopes alive, this may turn out better than you think. ;D
