JB says the Sunday night storm will be a long duration event and not stop until Tuesday evening, although most of the precip falls in a 12 hour period. He sees NYC as having snow and sleet with little or no rain. Points 50 miles to the west and northwest of the coast will be all snow. There will be 2"+ of snow/sleet north of a line from Belmar NJ to Baltimore; 5"+ of snow will fall west of a line from White Plains to Morristown NJ. There will be 10"+ snows along the PA Tpke.

Robbs, I  saw the TV met on Channel 2 this morning ( I forgot his name) saying this will be going into Tuesday also

the reason I can't think straight is because I am still hysterical about the question Combat posed over at the ABC board and everyone who tried to explain...

Thank you JB! Someone who actually has a brain! There is little or no rain from central NJ northward with this storm. All frozen -- uncertainties exist with respect to the duration of each pcpn type, i.e, sleet, freezing rain, snow. I believe we're looking at a significant 4"+ snow NW NJ into the poconos/catskills, probably with some sleet accumulation. Much riding on trends in tonight's 00z suite.

Monmouth - looks like we're some snow, but primarily sleet as of right now. Hopefully later runs will trend a bit further south.

I actually re-read JB's narrative to see if I missed anything regarding Long Island but didn't see anything. Closest he came is when he said that it will be a snow/sleet/rain event for I-95 from Wilmington soutwhestward with more snow to the northwest and more rain to the southeast. However, once north to Philadelphia and NYC it's only snow and sleet with all snow 50 miles northwest. Taken literally, JB may be saying only snow and sleet for LI but I can't say for sure that's how to interpret his narrative.
