Longislandwthr, with all due respect, I think the coast has a very high bust potential with this event on the 4" to 7" snows. I still think mixing will play a large role and cut down numbers. I hope I'm wrong and will be the first to congratulate you if these numbers hold but I have big doubts. Having said that, the 00z runs tonight will be very important in shedding any light or consistency to the situation.

Some differences in our thinking here, but not a bad map. Will give my call later this evening. (without map) I'm looking for the 00z NAM to remain consistent with its 18z trend.

Two possibilities -- 1) they were caught off guard with the sudden increase in the snow forecast by the NWS in their evening update, or 2) they were not caught off guard but are not buying it. I myself am highly doubtful of the 4" to 7" forecast on the coast and think mixing will be a larger factor and cut these numbers way down.

and i am just barely in the 4-7 range, and to my west there is nothing from central orange co. to sullivan co. and to my north in ulster co.,nothing. i don't think it is a coast hugger. this is widespread precip. for everyone with that original low to the north and the coastal coming from the south.

I would hate to be a couple feet north of the PA/NY border. They'd be looking at bare ground with 5-10" only a block away. JK.

All the mets have taken out of their forecast a change to rain - most are calling for sleet and freezing rain...
