Disagree. 69 with a 60 dew point right now in SE PA -- beautiful night actually. Most dew points are 55-63F, within the comfortable range. Also the upper 90s were very isolated. Most saw 90-95.

Disagree all you want. Dew points near me are Caldwell Airport 65, Charlottburg Reservoir 64, Sussex Airport 64. Quite a few stations have temps in the 80's at 10:00 pm -- Laguardia 84, Newark 85, Teterboro 81, Central Park 82. Upper 90's were isolated? It's actually a pretty impressive list.

Robbbs - and today we were in a 588DM airmass. Tomorrow and Tuesday we go into a 594DM airmass and temps we'll launch from higher platforms. Higher humidity may be the only thing that can keep temps from reaching 100. A few days ago the highest temp forecast I saw for today was 90, and most were upper 80's. It was only late Friday and yesterday that I saw forecasts jump into the 90's. Problem is most folks on this board haven't experienced weather this hot (and soon to be prolonged) this late in the season. I've seen it so many times I lost track of it. I hit 95 here and at Rutgers when I dropped off my son it was 99 in my car and 98 on the bank thermometers. It didn't exactly feel like an autumnal 98 either. All the folks on moving in day were complaining about the heat. Luckily my son has an air conditioned dorm on College ave this go round. Humidity is way up tonight vs last night. Maybe Storm doesn't have the effect is SE Pa, but this board isn't about that weather anyway.

Here's a list of highs for the tri-state area. Out of all these only a couple were above 95. The early July heat wave was certainly more impressive with widespread 98-104F for several days. No doubt this one's impressive as well, but most temps are falling short of record breaking and the low humidity makes it relatively low impact.

Even us on the coast got into the 90's. We hit 91 for a high today. If there was a sea breeze, it didn't penetrate that far inland from the ocean.

Wow i didn't think last night was bad at all. We dropped into the 60s pretty fast. That's a crazy range. I will say the actual high temps outperformed considering how it's usually a struggle for me to hit 90, even this summer.

I had a temp of 80 with a dew point of 65 at 10:00 pm last night. When I left the house at 6:00 am this morning, my temp was already at 72. That's very unusual for my area, which typically "cools" off at night even on the hottest of days. I can tell you the sun was intense yesterday pm and there were a string of locations in north central NJ that reached into the upper 90's. Checking the meso readings from yesterday, even nearby Ringwood NJ reached 97, and that's a very reliable station.

The sun did feel very strong. I guess because there weren't even any high clouds. Strange difference yesterday. Seemed like there was an east-west difference more than anything.

Tons of Sun today, absolutely gorgeous. My dewpoint never left the 50s and air temp in the 90s. Very nice. No humidity at all. Cooldown by weeks end. Looking forward to that as my highs are projected to be in the 70s and lows in the comfy 50s. Fall is knocking on our doorstep.

Ice, remember though our discussion was rearding the magnitude of the heat wave, not whether we'd have one or not. I thought 90-95 on average and you said 95-100. So far we've been basically smack dab in the middle of those ranges.
However I have to congratulate you as tomorrow and Wednesday are looking like definite 95-100F locks. NWS forecast now even has Central Park at 97 the next two days. 850mb temps have gradually corrected warmer/warmer on modelling from when I made that original post a few days ago.
So good read on this period. Considering the extreme nature of this summer, I should have played the extreme heat card as well.
By the way -- folks at home are saying brown-out in the Little Silver/Colts Neck/Tinton Falls area. Parents are without power.

Currently 88.9 here. Looks like I might just about miss out on the 90 degree today. Not that I'm complaining mind lol. And not that it would make a lot of difference to how it feels out there.
