In a few spots there could be but not as widespread as it was once supposed to be. Usually we've had a widespread one by now.

It's like someone turned a switch from September to October. From summer to fall.

Low of 45 here this morning which is actually 1 degree above my average low. Tonight's forecast low is 41, so i doubt i will see any frost, maybe a light coating on the grass. I usually see my first frost here before October, but not this year with all the above normal temps.

Most likely not here in NYC. Way too early, but knowing that other places are getting frost makes you kinda get in the Halloween spirit. Temps here in NYC will probably get down to the upper 40s to around 50 for Saturday night. Autumn has officially kicked in. I also have seen a few colors break out here too. A little early than usual from other years.

Yeah and we've only had one so far. Hopefully another tonight.

I have about a 1% interest in the first snow flakes unless they are a meaningful event. Put anywhere from 5-10 zeros in front of that 1 for my interest in the first frost.

I don't know if it's a northwest nj thing or what but there is always interest in the first frost and the first snow flakes. It's like it's in everyone's blood and we seem to look forward to it. It also tends to bring out the stories from the oldtimers LOL. Just one of those things i guess.

I think age has something to do with it also. For many, as you get older the cold is less appealing.
Most of the stories from the old timers gain a lot of exxageration over the years too. Honestly I d'ont know anyone who is older that looks forward to the cold and if they do - why? Cold is basically pretty unhealthy to older folks as it keeps them indoors where germs are bred. And vs many other real cold areas in the northern zones NW NJ climate is pretty temperate.

I actually love a day in the 40's with a brisk walk outside. One thing that drives me crazy this time of year is you wear a long sleeve shirt in the morning because its cold, then you sweat to death in the afternoon if the temps warm up enough, hard to dress this time of year. I know some days here are like 35 in the morning and can warm into the 70s in the afternoon grrrrrrrr
