Who the heck are they?
I think this thread should be renamed the Mets Off Season thread. The mets are doing absolutely zippo in the offseason. Why this team is not interested in Kerry Wood is way beyond my understanding. The Mets are going to be lucky to draw 2-2.3 mln fans this year and by late year may have a run rate of under 1.5mln in annual attendance. They have no pitching and no interest in any pitchers via free agency or trades. They've signed no one important and seemed disinterested in anyone that would require good pay and could help them. Alderson made an idiot of hmself criticizing the Werth deal and looks like he'll never offer anything meaningful to a free agent of even moderate stature, let alone the Cliff Lee level. Plus he took an immature back stab at Omar for no reason at all. The team ownership has a +$47mln draw on Madoff and may get indicted or be demanded to repay that entire positive draw to the trustee by the end of this week. The fact that they invested in a ponzi scheme shows how conservative they are, wanting guarantees before they will put up any money, while not realizing that their principal was given to a sewer rat. So where do you begin. They passed on Valentine for a two time losing manager who turned off two different groups of team players. I expect an abomination of this team starting next spring that rivals the type of game the Jets played last night.

Ronnie Paulino is a catcher. He has some pop. The other guy is a middle reliever.

Alderson has all but said 2011 will be a throw-away year. He will almost certainly trade Beltran during the season, and very possibly, Reyes too.
You're only young once, but you have your whole life to be immature!

They are still paying Bobby Bonilla over $1M a year until 2035.
This team will never turn it around with the Wilpons running things.
