Probably a suicide. I understand Bernie Madoff never showed any repentance nor remorse for all the lives he ruined and has been defiant to this day, even saying he would do it all over again. While I don't want to see any loss of life for anyone, what better way for him to suffer than by losing his own son due to his actions.

Just saw that and it's the ultimate proof that many people were running this Ponzi scheme. Bernie probably tried to take the blame solely because he worried about the strength of his sons to hanle the after affects of it becaming public. But there had to be 20+ people to run this ponzi scheme and some people in it had to feel remorseful while Madoff's son probably felt both remorse and inability to handle the pressure of the aftermath. W'ont be surpriszed by more suicides from the folks running the Ponzi scheme. This suicide probably wouldn't have happened if Bernie had'nt been so defiant. That presented a situation for the son where he had to be as defiant as the father or turn on him and he couldn't do either. It also indicates the possibility of someone breaking down and coming public with a confession in the near term. Here's the story on MSNBC:

The whole matter is such a shame. All because of the almighty dollar. So many ruined lives.

Didn't realize this but Mark Madoff killed himself with only his 2 year old son in the house and on his father's arrest date. How can you possibly commit suicide and leave your 2 year old all alone??
