Heavy snow warning overnightNYC Sanitation says it's ready; Alternate Side Parking rules suspended
By Heidi Jones
(New York-WABC) - The National Weather Service has issued a heavy snow warning which is in effect from 7:00 pm Sunday to 6:00 pm Monday. An earlier winter weather advisory is no longer in effect.
The weather service says light snow will begin across northeastern New Jersey and New York City early this evening. The steadier snow will move into the area as the evening progresses and continue into Monday morning.
The New York City Department of Transportation announced that Alternate Side Parking regulations are suspended citywide for Monday, February 26. However, parking meters will remain in effect throughout the City.
New York city sanitation workers say they're ready. At a press conference today, Sanitation Commissioner John Doherty said 2,200 workers will be working the overnight shift and another 2,200 will be working the day shift. He said some two thousand plows and 365 salt spreaders are ready to clear roads citywide.
Sanitation officials say residents with Monday morning garbage pickup should still put out their trash as it might still be collected depending on how bad the storm is and how clear streets are.
As for the storm, it's expected we'll see mostly snow, but some sleet may mix in tonight. Lighter snow is expected to continue through much of the day on Monday. By the time the precipitation tapers off Monday evening, total snow and sleet accumulations of five to seven inches are expected. It's possible some areas could see more.
The morning commute will more than likely be affected as the mix of precipitation will be winding down between 4:00 am and 6:00 am. Once we get through this storm, temperatures will return to normal levels by the end of the week in the 40's.

Vic, Po Town seems to be just north of the 0.5" liquid precip line. Given better ratios up there, you may still wind up with about 4" or 5", give or take.

880 and 1010 keeping to only 2-4" accius. In fact they both have same exact forecast. Looks like they are not giving independent forecasts anymore in snow situations. Remember they are both under the same ownership.
