I have to go with December 26-27. 25 inches of snow with wicked winds. I have never seen the City paralyzed like I have on the 27th.

Actually 12/26 was my least favorite because of all the wind. Although it was obviously impressive and memorable as far as storms go.
Believe it or not the last one was my favorite. When a storm exceeds expections it's always good, plus there was no wind and i did an awesome hike since i was off that day.

The wind from that storm made it my favorite. It was a true blizzard. The wind was so fierce that I couldn't even open my back door.

It was amazing that so many cars got stuck and the trains and buses weren't running. I have never seen the city in a standstill.

I guess you can also look at this in reverse. What storm are you sorry you missed. Can't imagine anyone would have wanted to miss the boxing day storm and for parts of NJ, the greatest storm ever with 25-35" in a very short period of time. I still can't get the news coverage of Broad street in Red bank out of my mind wth snow up to the top of the door the length of the sidewalk in front of Restoration Hardware. I've walked past that store so often as I love Red Bank. That had to be 8-10' of snow and then the cars on the street and all the parking meters were totally buried. That area got absolutely pounded with snow.

ok...so more seriously than last reply...in Morris Cty, no storms this year that even are memorable for me. Of course the impact on the surrounding area for a few of them is huge, but I will remember this year more for frequency than for a massive event to impact me.

Even the day before the storm, the weather people on t.v were predicting only 6-12 inches of snow for the NYC area. I remember on Friday that they were predicting sunny and cold for Sunday lol.

I think one of the most interesting facets of that storm was how mesoscale banding combined with a coastal front to produce the extreme snowfall rates seen in that area. It was fascinating to watch it unfold on the radar.

Was it the Boxing Day storm that had the strong blizzard or the one after that? Whichever it was, that's my favourite. We got snowed in! I've never experienced that before in my life. Actually, thinking about it, I think it was the second big storm on January 3rd.

And just think...only 24 hours earlier on the 11:00 pm newscast Janice Huff was forecasting a chance of flurries for the city. It's not just that she and others busted, it was completely irresponsible. At the very least, she should have been aware of the potential and mentioned that there might be a big storm, given that by that point all three models were showing a blizzard and anyone on this board could have made a better forecast. Clueless, and she does this for a living.
