Bob, the most frustrating storm. I had all snow here and yet recorded just 3" on 0.39" liquid equivalent. If you had told me I'd have that much liquid precip by morning with no mixing, I would have easily expected 5" or 6" of snow. I'm ready for baseball and summer.

You're absolutely right Robbs. I am extremely ready for spring , nice weather, and baseball...
I truly hope we never have to get our hopes high for the remaining weeks of this season...
I am done with this winter
and so is my prediction of 24 to 30 inches....lol

this was a spring-like storm so i can't help but start thinking about spring now. yanks play their 1st spring training game this week. this snow will be melting during the week. i wouldn't mind a few more inches to pad our ugly snow totals go but I'm basically done with winter. I may ski one night this week otherwise I'm probably hanging it up until next winter.

Snowed real hard here in the evening last night while I walked my dog :). We were both pasted.
My wife looked at the radar at about 10 PM and said, "it looks like it's over." I told her confidently that more would be coming (because I'm the big weathergeek in this house and I know better) >:(.
She was right. I think I'll leave the forecasting to her from now on :-.
Must have changed to freezing rain at some point (per JerseyTony a few miles from me, and the glaze I see).
I ended up with an inch of crunchy slush. So now I'm up to 7 inches for the season. :(

i got 5.1 inches and still coming down, but remember a forcast of 3 to 5 inches, or 5 to 8 inches, or 5 to 10 inches, if you get 5 inches, then the forcast verified!!!!!

Virga - I'll go one further, you can stretch out of the range you predicted. So if you predict 5 to 10, you can say that 3 to 12 verified. I've seen it done.

Bob, with all due respect, I didn't see ANYONE predicting 3-6 or 4-7 for your area. In fact, I thought you guys were supposed to see mostly rain after a quick coating of snow.

Devilsfan, he had a heavy snow warning for 4-7 inches and a few stations put NYC and most of LI in the 3-5 range. I had a winter storm warning for 4-6 inches here in monmouth county, barely have a dusting. The government authorities at Upton and Mt Holly BUSTED this one badly.

Geez, that's crazy. I didn't see that. The news outlets I watched were all calling for minimal accumulations in your area. I wonder what they were thinking...

If you listened to the National weather service calling for 5-7 inches or the other local networks outside of wabc, 1010 wins and cbs880, they busted the forecast. Bill got this one right and I have to give credit to where credit is due. We've wasted November, Decemeber, January and had a couple of quick hits in February for snow. This winter has really been one big waste. Think this through logically, though. If we can't get a big snowstorm in the coldest months, January and February, and even worse, have sleet and freezing rain be such an issue even when the temp is well below freezing, what confidence would anyone have in March when the sun angle is higher and the temps most likely warmer? I'd just rather see temps stay in the 50's and 60's at this point, it's not worth the pain of trying desperately to get a storm in here that stays all snow and can give us an appreciable snowfall.

well for one, Stormchaser had 3 to 6 for me and wanted to go higher to 4 to 7 inches...NOT bashing him whatsoever... this was another hard storm to forecast
a few others had me in that range too... Seems the kiss of death was over at the ABC board when Masco went from sleet and rain to updating his maps for 4 to 6 inches right over my area!!!! That killed the deal!
Seems Bill Evans nailed this tho .... not the point who was right or wrong...POINT is, I hope winter is over! LOL

Guys, put it this way. This was supposed to be a heavy rainstorm early last week. We're fortunate we got anything out of it. This year, I'll take what I can get.

Devils' - I think bust is overused, but late yesterday Mt. Holly had my area for 3-5, plus up to an inch more today on a Winter Storm Warning (not a "watch"). I was sure schools would be closed today.
I got an inch of slush. There was also a mild bust on temps, I was supposed to go below freezing (28) but hovered at 32-33; makes a big practical difference (wet slush versus frozen slush/ice).
No, this one was overstated by many. :-
I'm waiting for a post-mortem. Was the coastal much weaker than thought? IDK.

It is amazing how varied the snowfalls were reading these posts. For once upton got it right on fo rmy area. They predicted the exact range of time that the snowfall would start and called for 3-5 last night and I think we got about 4 and a 1/2 inches. Calling for light snow today and it is lightly snowing now. Sorry to those who didn't get what they expected. I am happy because I have been burned by NWS this winter and I got an unexpected snow day at the school I work at.
