OK guys. Maybe rhis will help. We can use this thread to posts map for things more than 3 days out or with out any other backing. We can also us this for posting things that JB, DT,Henry,Steve D, truck drivers, leprechauns, one legged midges and others have to say about the up coming patterens.
This I think will make things easier.

I just go up here a few hours ago, and there is only around 20 inches of snow, I have never seen this little snow up here on the Tug Hill this late in January, it should be around 40" deep.

0" in Burlington on the ground. There have only been 10 other years in history going back to 1883, where the snow depth was 0" on this date. 1-4" in most locations, with up to 10" in the higher elevations. Highest peak of Mount Mansfield has 32" as of 4PM (this map is as of 7AM).

Yea, I am at my house up on the Tug Hill, and I have never seen such a thin snowpack(16-21" in most spots) in late January, but I will be able to build in it, I think we are supposed to get a LES event next week and up to 6" in the next two or three days.
Who knows, we may see a February 2007 repeat where we get over 11 feet in around one week.

What's the most impressive snow event you've been thru up there in a 1-2 day period? I've been thru a 2 ft LES storm in Buffalo and for the life of me I can't get used to continuous hvy snow on a west wind. It was also incredible how fast that snow compacted.

How close to Boonville is Camden? I imagine you're into snowmobiling. Big sport in that area.

Back in January 1997(I think it was on the 11th or 12th) around 81" fell in less than 24 hours in the town 20mins north of me(I saw around 65-70" in that 24 hour timeframe) it was a world record for 24 hour snowfall, but NOOA does not because the spotter who measured the 81" snowfall did not measure the snow the right way(typical NWS BS IMO)

If he measured it the way most people do (at the end of the storm), it was probably only 40" due to compaction (Storm Total Snow Cover). Do you know how he measured it? If he brushed the board off every hour and measured, than that is definitely not accurate. Official NWS policy is to only brush off every 6 hours.

I do not know how he had measured the snow, but I assume he measured it by melting a core sample, and that is because it is VERY hard to get an accurate snowfall measurement out here(it is very high ratio snow so it blows around very easily due ti the fact that LES bands have winds of 25-40 MPH)

maybe i'm getting older but I don't mind when its nice and warm out in the winter... i hate the extreme cold now (maybe its because i have to work early in the morning lol) i still LOVE snow but i'm pretty OK with the fact that this has been a non-winter..
If it could be in the 40s every day except when we have historic blizzards that would be an ideal winter. lol

Well, my snow pack up here has really fallen apart in the past few days, it is now down to 14 inches, this might be the lowest I have ever seen up here this time of year, but there should be a good deal of rebuilding in the next few days, as we are supposed to get some LES, and it could amount to around 6"
