Nothing really to look forward to this season. I think they will be in 5th place.

Unfortunately, I agree with you on this one. When the most reliable pitcher is R.A. Dickey, the best outfielder is Lucas Duda, and the one all-star is likely to get traded, you know it's going to be a long season.
Over-under: 95 losses? I will go over on this one. My NL East predictions:
Phillies 99-63
Braves 92-70
Nationals 89-73
Marlins 85-77
Mets 60-102 (As you can tell, I am REALLY pessimistic about the Mets.)

I want to see them break the 1962 record.

I agree as well about the Mets. Citi Field will be a ghost town all season long. I do think the Phillies take a step back this year, and the Nats are 1 year away.

Pretty tough to lose 3 out of 4 games, as in 1962, Metfan.
Even the Astros won 56 in 2011. FD
ps - Look at the W-L records of their starters.

Has the ownership ever gotten anyone to buy shares? Everyday they run this team it loses value. Wilpon should sell just based on the business fact that he doesn't have the finances to operate this team. He's running it into the ground right now and before too much longer he's going to start de-valuing SNY.

Every couple of weeks you see a note in the papers that they're "close" to finalizing the sale of shares. But that's been the case for a while now - so who know what's going on with that. Hoewever, they have been very successful in court against the Madoff trustee (who only seems to act in the interest of himself and his firm). And those court victories will likely enable them to hold onto the team - unfortunately.

Well it is good to see Santana going strong.I also heard that Matt Harvey might make the team out of spring training. I guess we have some things to look forward to this season.

It's never a dull moment with the Mets. Wright was scratched yesterday with a sore rib cage and Ike Davis has Valley Fever. This is going to be another painful year.

If the Wilpons lose all that money and they are too foolish to sell the team, we may as well waive bye bye to Wright and Santana. This is going to be a long season...

It's unlikely they'll have to pay more than the $83 million. It will be nearly impossible for the trustee to win the case for the $303 million unless there is a lot more evidence than what's out there.
Still, let's hope the $83 million, plus how many additional millions in legal fees is enough to force them to sell.

As far as I'm concerned the announcement that should have everyone running for the exit doors is Fred Wilpon saying he intended to hold the team for a long time into the future. He's now made it a small market team that has no hope of competing with the Yankees in the area or the Phillies in the division. The only hope for the Mets in future years is to draft a few dominating pitchers but that seems something that is impossible now (when did they last have ko pitchers?) and let's also remember this is an organization that has terrible misjudgment of pitchers as it once traded Nolan Ryan and Tom Seaver.
