Nationals acquire temperamental Dukes from Rays

NEW YORK (Reuters) - The Washington Nationals have acquired outfielder Elijah Dukes from the Tampa Bay Rays for minor league left-hander Glenn Gibson, Baseball Web site mlb.com reported on Monday.

Dukes, 23, a temperamental right-handed power hitter who has had problems on and off the field, finished the 2007 season hitting .190 with 10 homers and 21 runs batted in 184 at-bats.

Gibson, 20, was 4-3 with a 3.10 earned run average last season for Class A Vermont of the New-York Penn League.

Dukes began the season in center field for the Rays, but a series of domestic problems prompted Tampa to send Dukes to the minors.

Dukes has been suspended in the minors for bad behavior.

The outfielder has not played for his Licey team in the Dominican Republic winter league since Thursday, when he was ejected after arguing a called strike.

I wonder if with all these changes, will their team still lack.
