Storm Totals: 1-3" Coast, 3" City, 3-6" N & W, 6-12"+ far N & W,
All aspect of remote sensing right now are very impresive...radar, water vapor, in addition to impressive surface readings coming out of the observations (thanks to the surging cold air southward).
Bg concern over the intitial precip, which has come in very fast in a warm advection regime. Also a concern is where the pprecip type sets up, that will effect snow totals, but more importantly set up an extensive sleet area and a narrow freezing rain area.
Concern 3 is how quickly the low wraps up, drawing cold airin, whcih can change teh precip type back to snow from west to east, accumulating a few additional inches, especially north of the city.
Another pointis the ice p-type which will be very important, sleet vs. feeezing rain, as freezing rain will create more havoc. However, the good news is the airmass if very cold and dry and the predominate ice p-type will be sleet.
He originaly said 1 - 3 for NYC! Now its 3....this is a slight give in but Bill is solid on his stance that this will be a bust.

I guess he figures it's better to low-ball it than to call for a monster storm and have it fizzle out.

He already went from rain to sleet in city. He is being very arrogant on this one. Doesn't leave any room for swaying or a wacky run more eastward. God Ihope he is wrong....we should go back in there just to hold him acoountable should this thing be more than the 3 inches in the city he is predicting. Don't forget he originaly called for this thing to go south...said he was basing it on the seasons tendencies for storms to go south of us.

That's hilarious. Bill really seems very arrogant, especially in his posts on that board. That arrogance is what indirectly cost him to lose the best posters on that board because he just didn't want to listen to the peasants and do anything to show that he gave a crap about that board. First real storm and he would love to have his big following and now it's not there. I guess he feels bad so he added another screen name to show that there in fact is a moderator (I have my doubts). You are right, too little too late. This board just swiped 95% of the quality members of that board.

Bill didn't post from last Friday at noon until Sunday evening at around 8PM so he didn't see all the garbage going on.
People are making up names and pulling his chain - and he's getting testy. Check out this exchange from a phony "Rod Sterlington."
Re: Re: Bill - Morning/Afternoon Update? Author: Rod_Sterlington
He will come on here and say he had to do the responsible thing and call it 1 - 3 but then have to change etc. The responsible thing is to say the truth that this is a heck of a thing to call and say that they really can't predict this thing until it gets going. A few years ago all the METS called for this mega 30 inch wet snow event that petered out to 2 inches...thing was like this one it had all the dynamics of tanking or not tanking. Then all the METS came on and did a two step. I just wish that with storms like this everyone not start calling out numbers until we get close. And say if you were wrong...don't hide behind the models or the complexity of the storm.

We don't hide behind anything.
The storm you were referring to was in March of 2001 and a totally diffent storm from this one.
This forecast is what we expect, we may be an inch low, if there is more on the back end. But that's it.
I don't make excuses, I never have. You obviously know nothing about me. I've been doing this 30 years, nearly 20 of that in New York City. You don't work here that long if you're a blowviator like yourself.

But there were many times when people complained about the jackasses on that board (Fastmove, etc) and he did NOTHING about it and they reappeared anytime a storm was on the horizon, and people complained and he poo-poo'd it every time. Now his board is nothing but an archaic piece of trash.
