Most of the area was forecast to get at least into the low 50s. Barely got to the mid 40s. What happened?

I got to 45, it was beautiful out, kids just got in a while ago from shooting hoops, although the ball lands dead in the snow if you get that perfect shot. Can I guess why it did not get as warm, my 6th grader has a weather chapter this week, the front became stationary????LOL
