Finally dug up some old photos from the past several years, as I wanted to see what a real winter looked like in central NJ. There's also been some discussion recently concerning NJ's beauty / lack thereof.

Since there's nothing happening weather-wise, I thought it'd be a good time to post these. Everyone is welcome to post pics from their area.

The following are shots from all around Monmouth county (some in my backyard):

I have so many. Here are a few of my favorites. I have better snow pix then the one below but what makes this one special is it has the date on it in Euro format - April 8, 2003. We ended up with 6-8" that day. The top pix is probably my all-time favorite. The upper left part of the cloud almost looks like a face looking up toward the heavens. Other people have told me the cloud looks kike the shape of the US and others have said it looks like a prancing horse.

Believe it or not bears are not true hibernators. They can be out all winter long. The females with cubs tend to stay in their dens all winter but males will roam all winter and den up if the weather gets real bad. They are not nearly as active in the winter though. I have seen bears walking in a foot of snow with temps in the single digits.
They are starting to get more active now. Females are coming out of their dens. This is the time you have to watch the garbage and bird feeders. Food is scares in the woods now. The bear i am holding is one of three.

I love photography. I didn't know that there was such an interest on the board. Would you guys like a subforum for Photography instead of having everything packed into one thread?

That would be cool. We can have a photo contest/photo of the month. Is there a way to get a photo on the home page for the winner each month.

All of the photo's were breathtaking, one is better than the other! Lab, is that your adorable little boy? Looks like a surfer to me, or a snowboarder......so cute. It would be great to have a photo section, it will give me the incentive to work on my photo posting skills. Storm, your photo icon with the cross, is that a photo of yours? It is beautiful. I love the baby cub, I wish I had one...LOL BTW, the bear are out up here, a few bins, including mine(with hardly anything in it because we were away) was torn apart and my new neighbors got the fright of their lives a few days ago, apparantly.

Snowamp,

Thanks -- it's actually an animated image I found via the internet. If you look closely you can see the sun's rays moving.

It's a shame that Christmas and Easter have essentially been transformed into a "kids playground" on the internet, media, ect. Virtually every image I searched under "Easter", came up as a bunny, easter grass, candy and marshmellow peeps, colored eggs, or some other crazy object that has no relevance to the meaning of the holiday. Same story with Christmas -- it's Santa, reindeer, presents, cookies, elves, etc.

The media is making me sicker by the day - from their disregard to religious holidays (particularly Christian ones) to their blatant lies concerning the reasons behind the autism epidemic. But that's another story for another time.
