I'm sitting at 54 degrees at 7:00 pm, yet the NWS forecast low by morning for my area is for the mid 20's. No way am I dropping 30 degrees between now and sunrise.

Don't be shocked Robbbs. Air is very dry and it's a great night for rad cooling. These late sunsets keep temps high for longer than we are used to but the temp still plummets under ideal conditions. I hit 31.8 this morning and was surprised and we are under a freeze warning tonight also. But this is likely the last freeze for most of us.

Ice, I hear you. However, I still don't think my area will go as low as the mid 20's by morning.

I misunderstood. I thought you were just doubting a freeze condition tonite. Mid 20's is indeed a stretch. The lower the temps go tonite the bigger the rocket launch tomorrow because the temps are going up very fast after sunrise.

I think you'll reach the mid/upper 20s fairly easily. Once winds decouple, temps will drop like a rock.
I was 50.2 only an hour ago and am now down to 37.1.

As I suspected, my minimum got no lower than 36.8, well above the mid 20's forecasted for here. However, temps in many areas of NJ, even south NJ, were well into the 20's. Radiational cooling favored spots did quite well.

Lab, That's almost 10 degrees colder than my low. My elevation cuts off radiational cooling big time. However, I get even during precip events when I'd want the cold temps the most.
Thanks for reminding me

He's probably in the Pine Barrens or on the outskirts of them -- south Jersey can equal or sometimes surpass the radiational cooling of NW NJ and certainly the urbanized area of NYC.
My low was 30 last night, cooler than most of the state. I'm usually 10+ degrees colder than NYC on calm nights.
Currently 38.1 after a high of 65.1 this afternoon.

Man, thats sucks, your precip is warmer and spring temps are a lot colder. I guess thats what being near the water does. I always considered myself along the coast, comparing to Putnam, Rockland, Ulster, etc.
Go Yankees, Jets, and NY Rangers!
