Last time Ponson was on the mound he did really good against the Mets at Shea. Now he facing his old team that he left a few weeks ago after they let him go.
He doing good so far in the top 1st. There have been talks by Hank that the way they have been playing is unacceptable. They better not get swept tonight. They need to win, and gain momentum since they will play Boston tomorrow.

Nice with Bases loaded. Giambi comes through with a monster Grand Slam in the upper deck.
5 to 3 Yankees in the bottom 3rd.

So long for the good start of Ponson. After giving up a 2-run HR to Bradley, he gives up a long 2-run HR to Davis.
7 to 6 Rangers in the top 6th.

Ponson clearly was struggling all game. But for the first five innings he got "the pitch" when he needed to. Seeing a pitcher flirt with disaster in almost every inning, Girardi should have had someone ready to come in after the lead off walk in the 6th. Torre used to do the same thing with Jaret Wright. Wright was lights out for five innings then hit a solid brick wall in the 6th almost every start. Yet Torre never had a guy ready in the 6th until 3 or 4 runs had scored. When you see a pattern either in a game or from game to game; be prepared for it. No, Ponson did not pitch well tonight. But had someone been ready the Yankees still might have a lead.

A side note on Ponson. It was either his first or second year in the league and WWE was doing Raw in Baltimore. Ponson and several of the Orioles were at the show. They pointed Ponson out and I recall thinking he was a bright-eyed, fun loving kid. Now I see him and how all the alcohol and other stresses have aged him. Its really sad. He looks closer to 45 than 32. Maybe its not too late for him to have a Josh Hamilton story.

He's 32? Wow. He looks on part with Cano. Maybe late 20s. I hope the Yankees can win tonight. They are down by one run. They need to win to avoid the sweep, and with Boston winning, it will drop them down even further. What happened to the come back that they had last year around this time when they bounced from 14 under to closer to like 7 games? They need help. Ever since they won in the 2000 WS, they have lost it. They lost in 2001 to Arizona in the WS. They need serious pitching.

Nice the Yankees have re-taken the lead, thanks to the pitcher loading the bases, and allowing Giambi to hit a big RBI-double.
Abreu and Arod score.
8 to 7 Yankees in the bottom 7th with 0 outs.

Yankees on a roll now. Gardner hit his first base hit to get an RBI. Everytime he tried to get on, it would be caught or they would get him out. This is their first double digit run count since they played the Mets.
11 to 7 Yankees in the bottom 7th.

Nice Arod contributes now, by hitting his 535th HR. He hit a 3-run HR.
