Seemed inevitable.
There was talk of a 3-way deal where the Saints got Shockey, the Giants got Jason Taylor and the Dolphins got picks. I'd rather have the picks than Taylor for likely just one year.
Now the Giants should have plenty of cap room to finalize Burress' new deal.

He's not the only one. Many players want new deals ever since they won the SB.

I believe I read this morning that Jason Taylor went to Washington Redskins, which I believe is a great move for him. Eli and Shockey didn't have a good chemistry. If he keeps his attitude in check he might actually help the Saints and see alot more playing time.

I believe the NFC East is going to be the toughest division in the NFL this year.

The Giants were better without him but he's still one of the best TE's.
Manning threw many less INTs without Shockey and had many more completions. Tells me that Shockey was missing routes.

I used to think that until I saw them play without him toward the end of last year. Seeing how much more efficient the offense became in using the TE made me think that Shockey, for all his talent, never figured out how to play in that offense. Having receivers run bad routes makes the QB look bad on TV. It seems that the balls are poorly thrown. What is very infrequently pointed out is that the ball may be in exactly the right place, but the receiver screwed up.

Maybe less pressure getting Shockey the ball too.
