The secondary low will quickly take over as a raging storm the next several hours on the coast and the north wind is pouring low level arctic air south into it and it appears the the threat severe freezing rain is being replaced in a large sense by a winddriven storm of icy ball bearings known as sleet for the I-05 corridor. 2-4 inches of sleet may fall before a change to wind drivensnow for a few hours in the big cities later this morning in DC and this evening in Boston as the track of the storm should be to near Cape Coad.
Snow rates of 3-6 inches/hr will develop the next few hours over the mtns of central Pa and expand northeast and east with quick thumpings of 5 ormore inches in much of the piedmont from Pa north once the sleet ends there and the 2-3 foot thumpings from the Poconos northeast.

As far as snow goes we can only hope it starts changing over within the next hour or two. That would probably be enough to give most areas 3-6. I would think it would happen from west to east. We need to start seeing reports of this and we need to see evidence of cooling at the upper levels, somewhere. Otherwise it's BUST city in the snow dept. I hope not.

Satellite, evidently it wen't over to sleet overnight as far west as at least State College PA as JB siad he had 6 hours of sleet before a change back to heavy snow.

Still heavy sleet with some snow mixed in. We received about four inches as of last night before the changeover to sleet/freezing rain. Hard to say now totals because of sleet. Power starting to flicker on and off! :o

I think it goes over to a heavy snow on the backlash for everyone The question is timing and duration. Big unknowns in my view. Temp here has dropped 4 drgrees in the last 2 1/2 hours and is now at 10.5 with some snowflakes mixed with the pounding sleet. It's nowcasting to see when the changeover to snow occurs as the coastal pulls more east.

be careful about being those online observations. esp for twc. hackettstown has said nothing but snow and obviously that is wrong.

Robbbs, on the radar it looks like the storm is moving very quickly, does it move out so quick that we miss out on the backlash or get dry slotted?
