I drove to Florida a few weeks after Hugo hit. It was interesting driving down interstate 95 once I got into the Carolinas. I began to see downed trees and they all fell to the west. As I approached the Lake Marion, Santee area of South Carolina the amount of trees down was tremendous. As soon as I got south of that area the tree destruction was just as bad but they all fell to the east. It was just interesting seeing how the storm damage increased as, of coarse, I got closer to the eye and how the storm circulation knocked everything one way and then another.
