This storm is a total bust anywhere near nyc. What a waste. Everyone should have know when they started talking about "wraparound" snow. Wraparaound snow is code for false hope and stringing you along till the end of the storm. Remember that for next time.

Good point robbbs, I hate when people say "total bust" and they have no clue what they are talking about...

The Nam and GFS still show healthy backlash snows. I think the rain threat (and hopefully freezing rain threat) is over. Sleet is quite managable and the sleet falling here is so white that it looks like snow at times. it's blowing off my gazebo roof the way a snow blizzard would. At these temps and with a storm this potent to not be having a whiteout makes me want to put a fist to a wall. I also better never hear about arctic air suppressing anything again - not after this storm. The rules of real estate are location location location and the rules of snowstorms are track track track. Surface temps are almost irrelevant.
BTW the sleet here has visibilty cut to levels you'd see in mod/hvy snow.

Boy, if you look at he radar the rain is having some tough time pushing into our area. Lots of pink though. I'm still thinking we may get a little surprise yet, later today. We'll see. ;D

The sooner the better. This is just plain nasty!
For the bust crowd...look, no one said it was a lock that we would get a foot or two of snow, or even several inches. The mets said all along that it depended on where the low developed and how it tracked. They said there was a CHANCE that we could get a lot of snow.

I wouldn't call it a bust, it's just a bad storm for the coast. If this thing does end up changing over to rain, it will be even worse but I'm surprised that the sleet has held on this long.

The cold air definitely seems to be hanging on longer than anticipated. Actually, my temps dropped overnight instead of rising, as was predicted.
